The web has no memory - unless it is created.
This was the beginning of The Digital Collection. On September 11, 2001 Norbert Specker of Interactive Publishing started to collect screen captures of online news sites around the world, often the only recordings of this day in the newsrooms. The collection has grown and served many visitors since.
This then, was a similar enterprise. We wanted to make sure that many different views on how this worldcup developed were accessible and preserved.
Norbert Specker has been involved in digital media since 1994, runs the Interactive Publishing Conference and Content Summit, the European IPTOP Awards for web sites, writes and consults through Catchup Communications AG. The Digital Collection is a next exciting step.
The excellent team around this site is Bettina Tamo, managing director of Interactive Publishing, graphics designer Stephen England, the two database and web design wizards Urs van Binsbergen and Dominic Meyer of "bureau taktik" and a host of helpers: Katja Riefer, Sheryl Walker, Juan C. Camus, Evan Garland, Frank Schmid and Chiho.
